Ticks
We often hear “fleas and ticks” referenced together, and that’s because they are common menaces that target us and our pets the same way and inhabit the same environments. If fleas are waiting for you in the yard, so are ticks, and they also need blood to survive. Ticks are not jumpers like fleas, however. Instead, they loiter in a well-trafficked area with their limbs outstretched, waiting for you to walk by so they can latch on. Ticks also spread many diseases that cause serious illnesses, the worst of which is Lyme disease.
